Royal College of Midwives Conference: 8-9th May 2024

Last month a handful of our K2 colleagues attended the Royal College of Midwives Conference 2024 including our Lead Midwife, Kate Jamieson.

Let’s see what Kate had to say about her time at the conference…

Attending the RCM conference this year was an enriching experience. Set in the heart of the Albert Docks in Liverpool, we were blessed with glorious weather for the duration!

The Royal College of Midwives serves as the professional association and trade union for midwives and maternity support workers in the UK. The annual RCM Conference brings together Midwives, managers, educators, commissioners, and policy formers who meet together in this unique forum for discussion, learning and inspiration.

K2 exhibited at the conference showcasing some of our products- the Perinatal Training Programme (PTP) along with our unique innovative product in INFANT-Guardian offering full contemporaneous documentation, fetal surveillance and central monitoring during antenatal CTG capture and complete intrapartum care.

Here are some key takeaways from my time at the conference:

Engaging with Customers:

It was truly a pleasure to interact with both long-standing and new customers. These conversations provided valuable insights and strengthened our connections, enhancing our understanding of their needs and experiences.

Insightful speakers:

Both days presented a range of fantastic speakers who provided real value and depth of knowledge to the conference. For example, the UK’s Chief Midwifery Officers were in attendance, alongside NHS England, Health Innovation Oxford and the University of Central Lancashire to name a few.

Extensive networking opportunities:

The conference provided numerous networking opportunities, which is one of the most beneficial aspects of such events. Building and nurturing professional relationships is crucial, and this conference excelled in facilitating these connections. These interactions also highlighted the collective commitment to improving maternal and neonatal outcomes.

Connecting with Colleagues:

Personally, as a remote worker, the chance to spend time with my peers was particularly meaningful. These in-person interactions are often missed in a remote setting, and it was refreshing to engage and collaborate with colleagues face-to-face at such a great event.

Overall, my time at the RCM conference 2024 was a very positive experience. The event provided a valuable platform for sharing the capabilities and accomplishments of K2 as a whole, showcasing the significant progress we have made to date.

I’m thankful for the chance to be a part of it, it’s great to have left feeling motivated and having had quality time with my K2 colleagues.
